In an aquarium setting, this fish thrives in tanks with a minimum capacity of  181 litres though larger tanks are preferred as the fish grows. The tank should be well-planted with live plants like Amazon swords, Anubias, or Java ferns, as they mimic the natural environment and offer hiding spots.

Diet and Feeding: The Electric Blue Neon Acara is an omnivore with a diverse diet. At 3.5-4 inches, it requires a varied diet that includes high-quality cichlid pellets, flake food, and live or frozen treats like bloodworms, brine shrimp, or daphnia.
