The Myriophyllum sp. “Mini Guyana” is an attractive yet unique new plant. This milfoil is bright light green in color and has a densely ramifying bushy habit. It has moderate growth, and, most importantly, a low height (shoot width 2-4 cm, leaf length up to 2 cm), making it an excellent choice for nano tanks.

This little milfoil resembles Madagascar’s Myriophyllum mezianum, but has fuller leaves, grows a little quicker, and is easy to grow,  thus making it look very ornamental.

This lovely aquarium plant is hard to obtain in the planted tank hobby. Like other Myriophyllum species, this mini water plant has wispy, feather-like foliage that keeps a vibrant green tint. Myriophyllum “Mini Guyana” will gladly branch and develop a dense and lush bush if offered with ideal conditions such as good aquarium tank illumination, nutrient-dense aquarium soil, and a regular fertilizing schedule. 

When compared to fast-growing aquatic stem plants, this aquatic plant’s moderate growth rate makes it an excellent choice for a nano-sized planted aquarium tank. It makes a stunning midground plant in a bigger planted aquarium tank as a decorative focal point.

The process of propagation is similar to that of other aquatic stem plants. Simply transplant your clippings in good aquarium dirt. Additionally, adequate space between stems should be left to allow light to pass through to the bottom leaves.
