Description
The Albino Pristella Tetra, also known as the Albino X-Ray Tetra, is a striking and peaceful freshwater fish that is well-suited for planted aquariums. It is a variant of the Pristella Tetra and is known for its unique, almost transparent body and delicate coloring.
Color: The Albino Pristella Tetra has a pale, translucent body with a faint pinkish or yellow hue. Its fins are semi-transparent with hints of red and yellow, particularly on the dorsal and anal fins. The albino variant lacks the distinct black and yellow markings found on the fins of the standard Pristella Tetra, giving it a more ethereal appearance.
Size: This tetra typically grows to about 1.5 to 2 inches (4 to 5 cm) in length.
Shape: It has an elongated, laterally compressed body with a prominent forked tail and well-defined fins.
Temperament: Albino Pristella Tetras are peaceful, schooling fish that should be kept in groups of 6 or more. They are non-aggressive and mix well with other small, peaceful fish in a community tank.
Activity: These tetras are active swimmers and prefer the middle to upper levels of the tank. They are inquisitive and often explore their surroundings, making them engaging to watch.
Water Parameters: They thrive in a wide range of water conditions but prefer slightly acidic to neutral pH levels (6.0-7.5) and temperatures between 72-82°F (22-28°C).
Planted Tanks: Albino Pristella Tetras are excellent for planted tanks. The presence of plants offers them shelter and helps replicate their natural habitat. The plants also enhance the appearance of their translucent bodies, creating a beautiful contrast.
Diet: They are omnivorous and easy to feed, accepting a variety of foods, including high-quality flakes, micro-pellets, and live or frozen foods like daphnia, bloodworms, and brine shrimp.
Compatibility: These tetras are ideal for community tanks and can be housed with other small, non-aggressive species like other tetras, rasboras, and small catfish. They are peaceful and should not be kept with larger or more aggressive fish.
