Product Description:
The Hygrophila pinnatifida sp. ‘Uttarakannada’ or commonly called Hygrophila pinnatifida sp. UK is a new hygro pinnatifida that is highly decorative stem plant with unique pinnately lobed shape leaves and rich colors that can be attached on driftwood and rocks. It has slightly longer leaves and slightly redder color compare to the regular Hygrophilla Pinnatifida. The serrated edge of the leaf is also more pronounced and can be used to tie on to wood or rocks like a fern.
Dosing additional nutrients, such as Iron, will also help to bring out the deep coloration that is, more often than not, the goal of keeping this aquatic plant. In addition, this unique aquatic plant can be attached to aquarium hardscape such as driftwood or rock instead of being planted directed in planted tank substrate.
It is tolerant of wide range of water parameters and is an easy plant to grow with CO2 injection although it can be used reasonably well even in low tech tanks (but success is less certain). If you have tried buying emersed growth forms from dealers and they keep melting, try looking for submerged grown ones instead. Conversion process is where some folks have issue with the plant - the submerged forms are stable and grow easily.
