Eriocaulon quinquangulare, also known as "Five-angled pipewort" or "Five-angled hatpins" flowering plant in the pipewort family that is native to tropical Asia.it's a popular choice for aquariums and is also known as "Eriocaulon sp Quinquangular.
Appearance
The plant has slender, erect stems with five distinct angles and grass-like leaves that are usually linear or narrowly lanceolate. It has a distinctive variegation of a maroon reddish base that transitions to lighter green shades towards the tips of the leaves. When submerged, adult plants can grow to about 2.5–3 inches tall, making them ideal for foreground placement in aquariums.
Light and CO2
Eriocaulon quinquangulare requires high light levels and supplemental CO2 to grow well.
Substrate
The plant grows well in ammonia-rich aquasoils and needs a nutrient-rich substrate.
Eriocaulon quinquangulare also needs a good supply of iron and micronutrients, and nitrate and phosphate levels should never be allowed to fall to zero. Some say that it's a finicky plant and not suitable for beginners.
