Rotala ramosior Florida is an attractive stem aquatic plant collected from Florida and thus named so. Even though the plant is not yet highly popular among aquarists, it is steadily gaining popularity due to its striking color and gorgeous foliage. Rotala ramosior Florida belongs to the Lythraceae family and is also known as Lowland Rotala. It is an annual plant from wetlands from North to South America that is also naturalized in Asia.

Care: Rotala ramosior Florida is a highly demanding plant in terms of light and carbon dioxide. Therefore, aquarists with low-tech or non-CO2 injected tanks should avoid planting it. The plant is a slow grower and gains moderate height when the right water parameters are provided to it; thus, it is ideal for midground or foreground plantation. 

Light requirements: Rotala Ramosior Florida requires a high light level that helps it get an intense purple color on the leaves. On the contrary, in low lighting, poor growth is recorded, and the leaves don’t turn purple but stay green or off-colored. 

pH requirement: The plant can tolerate pH in the range of 5-8.

Other requirements: High carbon dioxide, high light, and regular fertilization are the three prerequisites of Rotala ramosior Florida. Additionally, when the plant is supplied with higher GH (calcium levels especially), the plant flourishes well. If these parameters are kept low, the plant will rot at the lower portion of the stem, and the leaves will fall off prematurely.
