Body Shape: Like other widow tetras, this fish has a laterally compressed, slightly rounded body with a high back. Its fins are delicate and translucent, often tinged with hints of purple that complement its overall color scheme.

Size: Typically, these fish grow to about 1.5 to 2 inches in length, making them suitable for a variety of tank sizes, from small community setups to larger aquariums.

Temperament: The Purple Widow Tetra is known for its peaceful and schooling nature. They thrive in groups and should be kept in a community tank with other non-aggressive species. When kept in pairs, they will often swim closely together, displaying a synchronized, graceful movement.

Tank Mates: These tetras are compatible with other small, peaceful fish, such as guppies, rasboras, and other tetra species. They enjoy a planted tank with plenty of hiding spots, where they can feel secure and comfortable.

Tank Size: A pair of Purple Widow Tetras can comfortably live in a tank as small as  37 litres but a larger tank is preferred for a group.

Water Parameters: They thrive in water with a temperature range of 72-82°F, a pH level of 6.0-7.5, and soft to moderately hard water. Regular water changes and a good filtration system are essential to keep them healthy.

Diet: Purple Widow Tetras are omnivores and should be fed a balanced diet consisting of high-quality flake food, small pellets, and occasional live or frozen foods such as brine shrimp or daphnia.
