The Indian Lampeye is known for its distinct iridescent blue "lamp" spot near the eye, which gives it a captivating glow under certain lighting. Its body is slender, translucent, and typically pale with a silvery hue. Males may exhibit slightly more vibrant colors, especially during breeding, while females tend to have a rounder belly.
