Description

Product Description:

Rotala rotundifolia "H'Ra" or "Gia Lai" is also known as Rotala sp. "Gia Lai" / "H'Ra". Not long ago, it was introduced from Vietnam; its trading name refers to its finding place, H'Ra in the province of Gia Lai in central Vietnam. Rotala rotundifolia "H'Ra" / "Gia Lai" has narrow leaves and develops a nice light orange to red colour under good lighting. It has the same elegant growth habit as the light green Rotala rotundifolia "Green": overhanging to horizontal ramified stems. When combined with the "Green" variant, Rotala rotundifolia "H'Ra" will be especially effective. It differs from the similar Rotala rotundifolia "Colorata" by lighter-coloured narrower leaves and more overhanging stems when cultivated under the same conditions.

Stems: This variety features slender, upright stems that can reach a height of 20 to 40 cm (8 to 16 inches) when grown under optimal conditions.

Leaves: The leaves are small, narrow, and pointed, typically measuring 1 to 2 cm in length. They are arranged in pairs along the stem in an opposite pattern. Under high light conditions, the leaves can take on a striking red or orange hue, while under lower light, they remain green.

Growth Form: Rotala rotundifolia 'H'ra' exhibits a creeping growth habit, making it suitable for creating lush, dense carpets or bushy mid-ground and background plantings in aquariums.

Light Requirements: 'H'ra' thrives in high to medium light conditions. Intense lighting promotes the development of its vibrant red coloration.

CO2 and Nutrients: For optimal growth and coloration, it benefits from supplemental CO2 injection and a nutrient-rich substrate. Regular dosing of liquid fertilizers that provide essential macro and micronutrients is recommended.

Water Parameters: It prefers slightly acidic to neutral water conditions, with a pH range of 6.0 to 7.5. The ideal temperature range is 20 to 28°C (68 to 82°F).
